teach others to do the same.
Description:
![]()
The purpose of this position is to take responsibility for training spiritual leaders in Honduras to improve their abilities to perform their leadership responsibilities within our church plants.
Specifically, we are looking for someone who has the gift of teaching and talents relating to Bible education and discipleship, particularly at leadership levels. This ministry would focus on assisting the leaders in our church plants here in Honduras grow in their own walk with Christ and disciple others to do the same. Our focus is on launching a church planting movement, so all of our missionaries will participate in activities that relate to that focus. We realize that this summary of responsibilities is based upon our finite knowledge of what God is asking us to do here, and as He reveals His plan for us, we intend to adjust the responsibilities of each team member in order to most efficiently and effectively accomplish His will for us. Our desire is that each team member would serve predominantly within his or her particular areas of giftedness, passion, expertise and experience.
The responsibilities summarized here relate to ministry activities. Of far greater importance will be the individual's responsibility to maintain their spiritual, emotional and physical health, so that they will be able to serve with joy and at a pace that encourages endurance. To that end, it is expected that our missionaries balance their activities appropriately and take reasonable steps to ensure a growing, personal relationship with the Lord and to provide for the necessary spiritual and emotional needs of their family who serve with them on the field.
Prerequisites:The candidate should have the appropriate gifts, talents, education and experience in leadership training, Bible education and discipleship, with a heart for seeing people mature in Christ. Masters-level training in biblical or theological studies is preferred, as is a vision for establishing some sort of formal Bible institute if a similar resource is not available. The person should have proven experience in serving cross-culturally, a loving heart, good interpersonal and communication skills, flexibility, sensitivity to the poor, a learner mentality, good team skills and a sense of joy in ministry. A good grasp of the Spanish language is important, and language training will be provided to bring the person to an appropriate level of proficiency.
One or our continuing goals is to turn responsibility for the ministry over to the Honduran people. To that end, the missionary should take every opportunity to teach, equip, mentor and empower Hondurans as appropriate.
The person filling this position must meet biblical requirements for church leadership relating to the position, must be mature in Christ and growing, with a strong commitment to prayer, personal devotional activities, worship and Bible study.
